Q + A
Tell us a little bit about yourself, where you’re from, and how you got into hunting and the outdoors.
I spent half my childhood in the mountains of Colorado, where my father was a cattle rancher, outfitter, and guide. I spent another big chunk of my childhood in far Northern California. I’ve been hunting since I was about 11 or 12 years old and caught the bug early. From that point on, the outdoors just became a constant part of my life.
What is it about hunting that keeps you coming back for more?
I don’t think there’s anything quite like hunting because it’s endless. You never master it. You don’t even master hunting one species. Every hunt has different terrain, conditions, pressure, and variables. That’s what makes it a lifelong pursuit. As long as you keep the right mindset, it becomes a long-term relationship with the natural world. That applies to hunting, fishing, and spearfishing alike.
What is it about Pecos that makes you excited to work with the brand?
Every day I see box after box on people’s porches, including my own at times. Disposable products are the norm. What excites me about Pecos is the idea of buying something once and keeping it for life. Whether it’s a well-made knife you maintain for decades or a Pecos table built to a real quality standard, there’s value in owning gear that isn’t meant to be replaced.
Which Pecos product do you like the most, and how does it help you do your job?
A reliable, strong, and portable table is essential to what I do. I might be teaching a class and need a solid surface to remount optics. I might be breaking down elk with clients so they’ll fit into coolers for the trip home. I might be in the Caribbean diving with my kids and processing lobsters. Having a table that’s stable, easy to clean, and built to take real use makes all of that simpler.
