PECOS Pro

Grew up on Cape Cod, MA. Fell in love with the ocean chasing striped bass off the jettis in the late 90s. That was post moratorium so there were small fish everywhere. Further proof that abundant oceans can impact an entire career and lifetime…

Q + A

What is it about Stuart, FL that makes it such a good place to live?

I chose Stuart, FL as my forever home because of its diversity. There is literally no other place on the planet where a saltwater lagoon and a freshwater river combine to enter the ocean with the gulf stream a mere few miles off the reef’s edge. The biodiversity this dynamic setup breeds is what captured my heart in just my first few visits. I can’t chase on species for 12 months a year. I have fish ADD and enjoy a “sample platter” experience – lil’ bit of this and that.

What made you decide to pursue a career in the outdoors?

I pursued a career in the outdoors because the ocean is my first love. I want to spend all my days fighting to conserve its inhabitants so that other young guys and gals can feel those emotions I felt. What I do day to day is on behalf of younger cody… and also the next generation.

What is it about Pecos that makes you excited to work with our product?

The table and cutting board both have their places in my arsenal. I’m an “on the go” guy – one day I’ll be running a charter, the next I’ll drive 16 hours to set up for an industry event to talk about fisheries conservation. I essentially live and operate a multi-dimensional business out of my truck. The Pecos products play impactful roles in both those sides of my life. The best part about ‘em is their durability. I push my work capacity to the limit and in doing so I beat the livin’ hell out of my gear. Weak shit need not apply!

What is a dream trip for you or a goal in your career that you’d like to accomplish?

I don’t have a dream trip, and it’s because I’ve been lucky enough to travel to some incredible places early in my career. I have seen some “end of the world” fisheries, but I leave those trips unfulfilled, often disappointed and thinking about what my home waters used to be before so much pressure. My career goal is quite simple: do whatever conservation and advocacy work is necessary to bring my home waters back to a new version of their “old glory days”.
